Anti-Tank Trench at the Railway near Novozavedennoye

Shortly after the occupation of the village of Novo Zavedenskoye, the German military issued an order, requiring all the Jewish evacuees in the village to be registered on August 26, 1942. At 7 AM on August 26, 1942, the Jewish evacuees came forth to be registered.
At that moment, three vehicles drove into the courtyard of the German headquarters in the town. More than a hundred Jews were loaded onto the trucks.
The German command in the village, along with the local policemen who were collaborating with the occupiers, told the Jews that they would be taken to the village of Georgiyevsk. Instead, the trucks drove to the anti-tank trenches next to the railroad, and the Jews were shot dead there. In September, probably between September 11-15, and on December 15, 1942, the Germans carried out additional raids and searches in the town, trying to find hidden Jews. According to the testimonies of the survivors, the local antisemites informed the Germans that there remained hidden Jews in the village, and so the German soldiers and local policemen carried out two raids in those days. All the Jews found in these operations were executed at the same anti-tank trenches near the railroad. The number of these victims is uncertain.
