Anti-Tank Trench near Der Emes

On February 28, 1942 an SD unit shot 24 Jews in Der Emes. The victims were shot one by one at an anti-tank trench 500 meters from the northern edge of the village. After the shooting the bodies were stripped, and the residents of Der Emes village were forced to cover the trench. At the end of March 1944, while local residents were digging an anti-tank trench for the German army, the bodies were found and then covered again with earth.
