Beryozovy Gay Ravine

Apparently most of the Yemelchino ghetto inmates was shot in anti-tank trenches in the Beryozoviy Gayy ravine, on the outskirts of the village next to the road to Moklyaki village; today this is Gorkiy Street in the town of Yemilchino. Some sources date the shootings to September – October 1941. Entire families were taken to the shooting site on the pretext of being relocated, first to Novograd Volynskiy and, then, to Palestine. The exact dates of the murder operations directed against the Jews of Yemilchino have not been identified. Several dozen victims were apparently shot at the site, but the exact number is unknown. Later on, in 1942, local people who were identified as former Soviet activists were also shot at the same site.
