Brick Factory in Konokovo

The Germans arrested Jewish and non-Jewish civilians on August 25, 1942, and put them into the German prison in Uspenskoye. On August 29, at four o’clock in the morning, they took them by truck to the brick factory in the nearby village of Konokovo and shot them to death. The bodies were buried in a prepared pit 80 meters from the brick factory.
There were members of many Jewish families among the 85 civilians from the whole Uspenskoye County who were arrested between August 30 and September 3, 1942. On the latter-day at midnight, the Germans took those prisoners to the same location next to the brick factory. All of them were shot to death and buried in a new pit next to the old one.
