Brick Factory near the Fridrikhovka Village
On Yom Kippur, September 21, 1942 the Germans, together with Ukrainian auxiliary police, collected about 600 Jews in the ghetto of Kupel and took them to the brick factory located north of the town of Volochisk, near Fridrikhovka village. The Jews were shot to death at the nearby clay pit; some were buried alive. After the shooting, the victims were covered with earth.

Small Shop in Kupel
Shortly after the German occupation of the town the Germans locked about 100 old Jewish men into a small shop, closed the windows and the doors, and placed guards outside. By the next morning most of the men had suffocated to death. The victims were buried near the place where a statue of Lenin had been located in the center of town and, after a month, they were reburied at the Jewish cemetery.

Kupel Jewish Cemetery
Those Jews who were caught in hiding after the big murder operation of September 21, 1942 were taken to the Jewish cemetery, stripped naked, and shot to death in large and small graves there. Their homes and property were looted by the Germans.
