Chalk Cliffs Ravine in Kupyansk
According to the report of the Soviet Extraordinary Commission for the Investigation of German Crimes, at least 70 residents of Kupyansk (some of whom appear to have been Jews), of various ages and of both sexes, were shot in a ravine at the foot of the chalk cliffs in the town. Apparently, the German occupying authorities had accused these individuals of engaging in resistance activities. The exact date, or dates, of this shooting(s) are unknown. As for the perpetrators, they were probably members of the Secret Field Police office stationed in Kupyansk.
