Farm in Mikhailovka
During the night before the murder operation the Germans scoured the town for Jewish civilians. The Jews were arrested and held in the former registry office. On the same day, between three and four o’clock, the Jews were taken by truck to a farm near Mikhailovka village, north of Kurgannaya. At this farm there was an anti-tank trench. The arrestees first had to hand over their clothes and valuables to the Germans and were then shot to death. After the liberation of the town, 750 bodies were found in several pits around Kurgannaya; one of the pits was an anti-tank trench on a farm in Mikhailovka.
