Gorepashnik Steppe
In the second half of November of 1941 the Jews of Gorepashnik were assembled at the building of the local club. The Germans told them that they were going to be resettled because of an expected counter-offensive of the Red Army. The Jews were forced to sew Stars of David onto their clothes. To delude them into believing that they were being evacuated, the Jews were loaded onto trucks and driven around for several days. Then, on November 24, they were taken to pits that had been dug in the steppe about one kilometer from Gorepashnik and shot there. A total of 93 Jewish families, from both Goropashnik (Gorepashnik), apparently 25 families, and the town of Saki were murdered at this site.
