Ilyintsy Forest

On May 27, 1942 about 500 Jews from Zhornishche were taken, partly on foot and partly on carts, toward the town of Ilyintsy and shot together with the Ilyintsy Jews in several pits dug ahead of time in the area of the forest close to Ilyintsy. The massacre was perpetrated by German rural policemen and Ukrainian auxiliaries.

Zhornishche Ravine

In August 1941 13 Jewish men and boys were forced into the local club building and abused. Then they were taken from Zhornishche to a ravine close to town and shot there. The exact date of the murder is not known. According to various testimonies the perpetrators were members of an ethnic German militia, some Polish gang or, most likely, members of Einsatzgruppe C.
