Kaizerlingas Forest
At the beginning of July 1941, units of Lithuanian nationalists, backed by Germans, attacked the local Jews. Hundreds of injured Jews were led to the Kaizerlingas Forest, two kilometers southeast of Panevėžys, and murdered.

During July 1941, 1,500 men, women and children (according to other sources, 4,500 people) were murdered at the Green Grove (Zalioji), thirteen kilometers from Panevėžys.

Pajuoste Forest
During August 1941, Einsatzkommando 3a, commanded by Karl Jaeger, operated in Panevėžys, murdering the local Jews. On August 4, 1941, 403 Jews from the ghetto were murdered in the Pajuoste Forest. On August 8, a further 500 Jews were murdered there. The Panevėžys ghetto was liquidated on August 24-26, 1941. Altogether 7,523 Jews from the ghetto were brought to the Pajuoste Forest and killed.
