Khomyachi Forest

In February 1942 the family of the shoemaker Girsh Portnoy and three women refugees from another village who had been staying in the Portnoys' home were shot in the forest 30 meters to the right of the road to Khomyachi village. The family was not been killed in the first mass murder operation because the Germans needed Portnoy's services.

The dating of this murder operation is given as autumn 1941 or March 3, 1942 according to different sources. The number of Jewish victims is unknown. The Jews of Ozarichi were shot outside the eastern entrance to the village in the direction of the villages of Khomyachi and Kazansk, about 20 meters from the crossroad of Oktyabrskaya Street and the Bobruysk Road, 10 meters to the right of the road to Khomyachi.
