Korop Forest
In early February 1942 an SS murder squad arrived in Korop. The Jews were ordered to appear with their belongings at an assembly point whose precise location is still not known, ostensibly to be resettled. On February 9, 1942 Korop’s Jews were arrested and taken to a forest near Korop on the way to the village of Volnoye. At least 111 Jews, including 42 old people and 36 children, were shot to death by a SS murder squad and local Ukrainian police. Some Jews from Korop County were murdered in the forest in February 1942. At least one Jew from Karylskoye in Korop County was shot in the forest of Korop on February 11, 1942. At least one Jew from Budennovka in Korop County was shot in the forest on February 13, 1942.
