Nail Factory in Rechitsa

In November 1941 a number of Jews were arrested by a German murder squad and shot to death near the nail factory. According to some testimonies individual Jews were also shot at the same murder site in December 1941. The total number of the victims and the exact dates of the shootings are unknown.

Rechitsa Cemetery

In early September 1941 Jewish men who were able to work were forced to gather in one of the buildings in the industrial area of Rechitsa. Then they were marched west of the town to the murder site located near the cemetery, 2 kilometers away from the town. There the victims were shot to death by German soldiers and local collaborators. Estimates of the number of the victims range from 200 to 216. The bodies were later buried in an anti-tank trench.

Dniepr Crossing in Rechitsa

In October 1941 9 Jews, among them 4 children, were shot at the Dniepr crossing by a German motorcycle messenger and a German car driver. The shooting was carried out, after a document check, on the initiative of the Germans without any order from the German command.

Bronnoye

Some sources report that in October 1941 a group of 20 Jews, including young children, who escaped from Rechitsa by cart, following the abusive and hostile treatment toward the Jewish population. When they were about 6-8 kilometers from the town, residents of Bronnoye village attacked them with axes, crowbars, and pitch forks. All the Jews were murdered and their possessions were looted. The bodies were buried by the murderers in the vicinity of the site. Another murder operation in the vicinity of the village apparently took place in December 1941, when a group of about 20 Jews was driven from Rechitsa in the direction of Bronnoye. Apparently, they were shot in the vicinity of this village.

Anti-tank Trench near the Wine distillery

In late November, according to some sources on November 25, 1941 seven trucks arrived at the ghetto. The Jews, in groups of 45–47, were loaded onto the trucks. The people were driven towards the wine distillery south of town. The victims were unloaded in small groups of 15 – 20. According to some sources the victims were forced to strip naked before the shooting. Then they were placed near the anti- tank trench and shot from submachine-guns by policemen supervised by two Germans. The total number of victims is estimated to have been more than 300.

Railway Area

On November 27, 1941 at least 12 Jews, according to witness testimony, women and children, were shot to death by the Germans in the vicinity of the rail road.

Dugout near the Prison in Rechitsa

In late November 1941 a group of three Jewish women was arrested and held for three days in prison. On November 29, 1941 they were shot in a dugout at the prison.
