Early in the morning of September 6, 1942 Ukrainian auxiliary and Gendarmerie men (German rural order police) surrounded the ghetto. Its Jewish inmates were driven onto the street and were taken by the policemen to Domashneye Lake, where their valuables were confiscated. Then they were taken under guard to the Pesotksoye tract, located approximately 2 kilometers from Krymno. Upon arrival at the murder site, the Ukrainian auxiliary police and Gendarmerie and several SS men encircled the site in order to prevent the Jews from escaping, while the Jews were collected near a pit that had been dug the previous day by local residents. At the order of Nikolai Dufanets, the chief of Ukrainian auxiliary police of Zabłocie area, about 400 Jews, primarily women, children, and elderly people, were stripped naked, forced in groups into the pit, and made to lie facedown there. After one group was shot to death, other victims were ordered to lie on the top of the bodies and then were shot to death in their turn. When, after about two hours, the shooting of the Jews was over, Nikolay Dufanets finishing off with his pistol those who showed some signs of life.
