Put Kommunizma Collective Farm

Immediately after occupying Divnoye, the Germans began to humiliate the local Jews, killing some of them at random. Later, on September 15-25, the German military authorities ordered Jews to dig two huge pits at the Put Kommunizma collective farm. On September 25, 1942, when the Jews had finished digging the pits, 16 trucks arrived in the village. A group of civilians, the vast majority of them Jewish, were loaded onto those vehicles and driven to the shooting site at the collective farm. The victims were methodically made to climb down into the pits. Some of them had to strip naked, while others remained dressed. They were all ordered to lie down, and were then shot dead by German soldiers. From time to time, toddlers would be thrown into the pit alive. Teenagers were forced into the pit and buried alive. Altogether, the German occupiers of Divnoye murdered some 300-360 civilians, most of them Jews.
