On March 15, 1942, Askaniya gendarmes shot 200, according to some sources 240, Jews in the area of sand pits 700 meters southeast of Askaniya Nova. The number included the Jews brought there from Grigorovka village and probably from other places. The Jewish women, children, and old people were taken from prison to the shooting site in groups of 10-15.
