School Building Area in Ostropol
In 1942 the inmates of the Ostropol's ghetto were ordered by the occupation authorities to leave their homes and to take with them money, other valuables, and food for one day since they were supposedly going to be taken to the ghetto in the city of Kamenets-Podolsk. Instead, the collected Jews were taken by Ukrainian auxiliary police to a large pit near a school building on the outskirts of the town. The victims were shot to death there in groups of ten, apparently by Ukrainian auxiliary policemen and members of a German unit.
