In May 1942 an unidentified German unit arrived at Stary Zhivotov. 18 Jews who were working in a field were taken to the town and locked into a barn. They were forced to undress, beaten, and then taken outside of town and shot to death. Neither the exact date of the massacre nor the identity of the perpetrators is known.
