During the German occupation of Bolshaya Pisarevka, several massacres of local residents took place in the area. Most of the victims were casualties of the German anti-partisan war, but Jewish civilians, too, were murdered on the outskirts of Bolshaya Pisarevka. According to Soviet sources, the German military killed forty-seven civilians, including three Jews, in October 1941.
