Vereshchaki Area

On October 10, 1941 members of Einsatzgruppe B and local policemen took all the Jews from Vershchaki, as well as Jews from the nearby villages, mostly women, children, and old people, a total of about 100 persons, to a small hill overlooking a field and an inlet of the Porositsa River, 300 meters south of Vereshchaki, where pits had been dug. The victims were ordered to lie face down in a pit and were shot to death in groups of ten.
