In the fall (October or November) of 1941 a total of about 100 Jews were arrested in Makarov and taken to the local county auxiliary police prison. From there they were taken to the garden of the former Jewish collective farm Vozrozhdeniye (at present this is the area of a municipal park) in the town center and shot dead by German military or order policemen, assisted by local auxiliary police.
