Yanushpol Forest

On May 29, 1942 the Jewish population of Yanushpol, together with Jews from Lyubar, Chudnov, and some villages of Berdichev County, were taken to the nearby forest and shot to death. Their bodies were thrown into two large pits. Sources say some people were buried alive. Most of the victims shot were women, children, and old people. According to some testimonies, on the following day, when the pit was still uncovered, chlorine was poured into it. The number of estimated victims ranges from 650 to 890.
